Angelo N. DeFilippo by his own admission, would be a “lost soul” without art -- appreciating, creating, and experiencing the craft.
The educational wanderlust of Angelo’s collegiate years parallels the range of his ongoing, multiple mediums. He studied art at the Columbus College of Art and Design, mathematics and philosophy at the University of Buffalo, architecture at the University of Florida, and architectural design at New England’s Boston Architectural Center. Angelo’s formal education and his oeuvre share a common-threaded breadth that highlights color, design, and shape to invite and inspire the observer.
Klee, de Kooning, Kandinsky, Mirò, Pollock, Rothko are just some of the apparent influences that are seen in many of Angelo’s works (he’s an unabashed fan of 20th century abstract expressionism). Angelo also draws inspiration from music, nature, emotions, and personal struggle which ultimately shape his creations.
Angelo’s work can currently be viewed at Carlton Fine Arts Gallery in New York. He has been featured in MTV Re:Define and Art in Bloom at the Dallas Museum of Art. He has been featured in multiple shows including the Dallas MAC, Converge Gallery, The Keenan House Gallery in Lockport, NY, and Pro Arts in Oakland, California. He has donated multiple works to charitable organizations such as A.W.A.R.E, Empowering Women Leaders, DCAC, Niagara County Historical Society, and the Boston Architectural Center. Angelo has collectors all over the world ranging from Investment Bankers to Famous Interior Designers. He currently sits on the UT Dallas School of Arts and Humanities Dean’s Advisory Council.
